Meet the Artist
I began my journey as an artist unexpectedly at the age of 63. With no formal training or prior experience, I picked up a brush for the first time, inspired by a photograph my wife took of Carrabelle Beach. That spontaneous moment turned into a passion that has guided me ever since.
Despite being considered legally blind, no sight in my left eye and only a pinhole of vision in my right, I have completed more than 200 paintings in the past eight years. My work has been featured in exhibitions across the country, but more importantly, it has become a means of self-expression.
While I admire realism, my art focuses on evoking the emotions and essence of a scene or subject. I strive to capture the feeling rather than the fine details, creating work that invites the viewer to experience the world through my perspective—one shaped by resilience, curiosity and creativity despite being incumbered by vision loss.
Art has shown me that vision is not just about what we see; it’s about how we perceive, feel, and connect. Through my paintings, I hope to share that message and perhaps inspire others to embrace the unexpected paths that life can offer.
